Tools and Resources I’ve found helpful.

Equipment

  • Mueller Pressure Cooker – Selected for it’s programming, solid build, safety (no chemical coating, etc) and the removed lid stands on the side of the pot ensuring no dripping on my counters. Usage: several times a week.
  • Vitamix Blender 5200Certified reconditioned option is a great way to save a few dollars on a blender that will preform and last a very long time.
  • Breville Food Processor – All I’ve really needed is is “S” blade. Additional attachments are nice to have but I have not found to be necessary.
  • Immersion Blender – So much easier than pouring hot soup in the blender for mixing. Handheld blender, super balanced and easy to use. Available on Amazon and comes with attachments that make recipes quick, simple and clean.
  • Mealthy CrispLid – this handy lid transports your pressure cooker into an air fryer. Batches are small but I like that better than having another appliance on my counter.
  • Parchment Rounds – these are unbleached rounds I use in my Mueller + Mealthy to keep the wire basket clean when air frying. I also use in the bottom of baking dishes. Makes clean up a snap. A must have when baking or frying without oil.
  • Green Bags: These bags really do prolong the life of fresh veg and fruit. Both in the fridge and on the counter. They work people.

Free Recipes

  • Dr. McDougall, MD
    • The most generous and numerous offering of free plant based recipes on the internet. I don’t eat as many potatoes as Dr. McDougall recommends because I found that for my body, weight loss stalled. I still eat potatoes (especially sweet potatoes but not daily). Dr. McDougall’s books are available on his website.
  • Brenda Davis, RD
    • Brenda has the unique ability to break down the science of food and what it does within your body into practical application. Very inspiring. Great recipes and educational video’s as well as a featured vegan YouTube conference speaker.
  • Dr. Joel Fuhrman, MD Recipes
  • Dr. Neal Barnard, MD
    • Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
(https://www.pcrm.org). Free app and free 21 vegan starter kit (encouragement & recipes) with consideration for specific conditions.
  • Living Raw By GraceYouTube & Website.
    • Haley is living proof plant based works. I’ve watched her health and lifestyle since 2014. Free recipes galore that are easy to make and yummy. I’ve also personally purchased her complete uncookbook series and use it often; however, I exclude oil which some recipes contain. She has used food to reverse obesity and sever asthma plus she is a fantastic human being and amazing holy yoga instructor.

Tip: In the United States many of McDougall and Fuhrman’s books are available from your local library. Using your library card, check out electronic copies free of charge using Overdrive or their much simpler to use application “Libby“. Another free ebook provider associated to the library is Hoopla. I found this a great way to check out content. It enabled me to buy books that I felt were the most useful.
